One for Roger Subirana…music which touches your soul!

Sorry for not updating this blog. I was tied up with the worldly ways. But here I am with something new.

This one is a beautiful instrumental by Roger Subirana. Now, Roger is an upcoming musician who is wonderfully talented and he creates magic with his profound music!

This song is called “Fragile” and it is one of my favourite tracks from Roger’s collection. He has come out with many splendid compositions. Check out his Dark Symphony album and many more on his website: http://www.rogersubirana.com/

The interesting part about Roger is that he is not professionally trained but it’s his dedication and love for music that gives him the passion to create something so beautiful! No wonder, his music touches my soul!

One for “December”….

So I heard this beautiful song today for the first time and I felt that it would be apt to share it here. This one is from one of my favourite soundtracks – “Wicker Park”.

Nice and soothing… Love the sound of  the mouth organ in between. Just what I was looking for now. 🙂

P.S – My music posts are based on my mood. That’s how I like it.

One for ‘Still…you turn me on”

Listen to this one and tell me if you don’t end up playing it on repeat.

I am a big fan of that guitar! Come to think of it, everything is perfect about this song – vocals, lyrics and music!

The lyrics are straight away out from a poet’s web. Check it out here: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/e/emerson+lake+palmer/still+you+turn+me+on_20049801.html

“Do you wanna be the lover of another?

Undercover you could even be the Man on the moon “

One for “Something beyond ordinary”…

Hmmm…now this one’s a very experimental composition by Angelo Badalamenti  and sung by Dolores O’ Riordan. The music is profound, dark and the video kind of blends in so well. Beyond Ordinary!

( By the way Angelo Badalamenti is my Music God )

One for ‘This never happened before’…

Again, this is another popular track which also features in the movie “The Lake house”.  A wonderful song by Paul McCartney!

My sister made me hear this song in the fall of 2010..I still remember!

One for ‘Diamonds & Rust’…

This song has become one of my most beloved songs. I can listen to it for almost infinite number of times without having that saturation effect. Very few songs have this quality and this is one such song.

Joan Baez sings it for her lover Bob Dylan and it speaks volumes. Of course, the video is self-explanatory.

The sound of that guitar just grips my soul and the lyrics narrate a story; a scene from a lover’s life…It creates nostalgia and somehow reminds me of autumn. Maybe this is how being in love must feel like…

Song: ‘Diamonds & Rust’ by Joan Baez

~ Lyrics ~
———————————–

“Well I’ll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that’s not unusual
It’s just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I’d known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin’s eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you’re smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

Now you’re telling me
You’re not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It’s all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you’re offering me diamonds and rust
I’ve already paid”

“We both know what memories can bring, they bring diamonds and rust…”

One for “Once” ….

A few songs from one of the best soundtracks ever made. The movie’s called “Once” starring two real life musicians – Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova. Wonderful music and movie, all in one.

Songs (in order):

  • If you want me
  • When your mind’s made up
  • Falling slowly

I simply love the way they’ve penned down the songs and what beautiful compositions! The track “Falling Slowly” won the Oscars for the best original composition and rightly so.

Falling Slowly lyrics:

“I don’t know you
But I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can’t react
And games that never amount
To more than they’re meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You’ll make it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’m painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice

You’ve made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I’ll sing it loud”
