One from my #2016 playlist.

I have been listening to so many new songs but haven’t had the chance to update this blog.

So, this Sunday morning, I will start off by sharing the most heard songs from my 2016 playlist.

1. Ludovico Einaudi – Experience
This music is an experience. If you don’t believe me, just watch this video and you’ll know what I’m talking about. The video here, brings the work of Vincent Van Gogh to life and it wouldn’t have been possible without this music. With a strange melancholic touch, the music makes you time-travel to Vincent’s era and step into the scenes depicted in his paintings.

2. Shura – Touch

I heard this song right in the beginning of 2016 when I had gone to visit my best friend. Shura invokes that lovely 80s music feeling and that made me fall in love with this track instantly.

3.  Cigarettes After Sex

Now, this one is a rising blues band. Not very heard of but their music is so beautiful that it’s found a place inside my heart. I would recommend their whole album, which you can easily find on YouTube but you can start off with these three tracks. Be careful, they give you the blues real bad! (The big reason for my fascination! Haha)

Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby

Affection

Dreaming of You

4. Connect.Ohm (9980)

Like ambient music? Wait for it, you will absolutely love this album.

Thanks to my Twitter network of music enthusiats, I landed up upon this rare gem. Again, this is not one of those mainstream bands and there’s very little information available about the artists behind this album.

Connect.Ohm 9980 is a collaborative album born from the musical encounter between composers, Hidetoshi Koizumi aka Hybrid Leisureland (Tokyo based) and Alexandre Scheffer aka Cell (Paris based).

This year when I was on a trek to Triund, a part of the Himalayas, this song stayed with me all the time. The trek was an amazing experience and the view from the top of the mountains can take you closer to your soul. It happened to me. The stunning view and this music, inspired a poem.

Here’s a glimpse of my Triund trek experience. Shot this with less than 20% charge remaining on my phone with the bustling wind in the background. And now, you know the music 🙂

Hope you enjoyed listening to my song collection. What’s on your playlist?

One for random singing sessions…

bill

I am a very moody singer. Sometimes, I get down to recording music on my phone.

Here’s a soundclip on one of my favourite songs, Ain’t no sunshine by Bill Withers.  https://soundcloud.com/neelanjana-barua/aint-no-sunshine-wandering-sonata

This song was randomly recorded one fine afternoon. Just 40 seconds for now…

Just thought of sharing. 🙂

One for “Hall & Oates”

Hey folks!

I’ve been collecting many songs but haven’t had the time to share them. Correction in progress!

Currently, I’m hooked on to this track. It’s a cover track of the very famous song by Hall and Oates – I can’t go for that. This is a fantastic tribute by “The Bird and the Bee” who seem to have remastered this 80s number.

Song: “I can’t go for that”

Artist: “The Bird and the Bee”

Original Cover: “Hall & Oates”

Enjoy!

Wandering Sonata

One for re-making the classics! (Ain’t no sunshine)

I was listening to Bill Withers’ original version of “Ain’t no sunshine” and came across many other nicely done renditions. It is indeed a huge task to match the beauty of the original composition but I really liked a few versions so thought I should share them here.

First one is by Joe Cocker. Listen & enjoy!

Joe Cocker ~ Ain’t no shunshine

Another great version is the one done by Shaun Smith during “Britain’s got talent” auditions. What a voice!

Shaun Smith ~ Ain’t no shunshine

And yet another neat version.

Selah Sue & Ronny Mosuse ~ Ain’t no sunshine

Which one did you like best?

Hello everyone, Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but I have been collecting. So here’s a new song I heard and just love it! Nice mix of electronica and beats!
